Instruction

  1. As a patrol, create a pledge / creed for your patrol. This pledge / creed should represent the qualities of your patrol members as well as the goals of the patrol.
  2. (b)As a patrol, befriend at least 3 other Scouts from different countries and learn about Scouting in each of their respective countries.

Competencies

  • Social Development
    Scouts will develop a sense of social responsibility and loyalty by creating and upholding a patrol creed. In addition, Scouts will be able to make new friends from another country and exchange each other's culture. This will teach them to be open to differing opinions, social classes and ways of life.
  • Intellectual Development
    Scouts will be able to expand their field of knowledge regarding the creation of a creed. Scouts will also be able to analyse and understand the values behind that their creed entails.
  • Character Development
    Scouts will be able to develop a critical awareness of themselves and their patrol by creating the patrol creed. In addition, Scouts will learn to be open to exchanging their culture with another Scout from overseas.

Activity Counts Towards

1. Articulate what you understand from the National Pledge and how you live out the aspirations espoused in the Pledge.

2. Make friends with a Scout who has been to an International Scout Exchange Activity and record your findings in your Journal.

Make friends with a Scout from another National Scout Organisation and find out more about Scouting in his or her country.
