Instruction

2m. As a patrol, plan a mock International Scout Exchange Activity. This activity can be a Jamboree, Scout Conference or a simple Unit Exchange.
The mock plan should minimally include the following details:
– Date and Venue
– Program Flow
– Target Audience

Reflection

  • 2mi. How does Scouting fulfill its mission of “Creating a Better World” have on the following levels: – Community impact (within your school) – Local impact (within Singapore) – Regional and Global impact (within the Asia-Pacific Region and WOSM)
  • 2mii. Given the opportunity, which of these events would you like to attend and how would it benefit your development as a Scout?
  • 2miii. In your opinion, can events such as Jamborees etc. be emulated in a non-scouting context? (Eg: Modifying and holding a Jamboree for NCC cadets)

Variation

To run this at the troop level with all patrols being monitored by the SPL/TL as per patrol level instructions.

Competencies

  • Social Development
    Scouts will learn about the various types of International Scout Exchange Activities. Scouts will also develop a sense of social responsibility by learning how to plan for an International Scout Exchange Activity. In addition, Scouts will learn to work together as a patrol.
  • Intellectual Development
    Scouts will be able to expand their field of knowledge regarding International Scout Exchange Activities. Scouts will also be able to analyse and understand the different programmes that International Scout Exchange Activities entail. As such, this will allow Scouts to develop their own programme when planning for their mock International Scout Exchange Activity.
  • Character Development
    Scouts will be able to develop a critical awareness of International Scouting by learning about the different kinds of International Scout Exchange Activities. Scouts will also develop the self-confidence in planning a mock International Scout Exchange Activity.
