Share with your buddy but not limited to:
– Your experiences and perspective on Scouting and relating them to the Scout Promise & Law.
– Some challenges you faced and how you overcame them in the presence of a Scout Leader.
– Techniques or tricks you’ve learnt from your years in Scouting

  • 2i. What are some things that you have learnt about your buddy?
  • 2ii. In your own opinion, would you do this buddy pairing activity again if given a chance and why?
  • 2iii. Is this a good way to help new scouts learn more about scouting? Why?

Competencies

  • Social Development
    Scouts will develop their sense of social responsibility by mentoring a younger Scout and understanding their learning and developmental needs. Scouts will also understand their place as a mentor and be open to being a listening ear for their mentee.
  • Intellectual Development
    Scouts will be able to expand their field of knowledge with respect to mentoring a younger Scout.
  • Character Development
    Scouts will be able to develop their critical awareness of themselves and be able to set a good example as a mentor to their younger Scouts.
  • Emotional Development
    Scouts will be able to build their confidence in mentoring a younger Scout. Scouts will also learn the value of empathy through the understanding of their mentee's needs.

1. Literature Review
Review a speech, movie, book or play that has impacted you and explain how it has shaped your life’s perspective.
The theme can be about the environment, education and development, youths, social entrepreneurship, Life purpose, etc.

2. I’m your Buddy
Be a buddy to a junior Scout in your Troop for at least THREE months
Share with him your experiences / perspectives on Scouting, and relate them to the Scout Promise & Law. Share the challenges you've faced and how you overcame them in the presence of a Scout Leader.
